Alfred won the 100 and 200 meters and led the Longhorns' 4x100-meter relay team to give Texas a title after three consecutive runner-up finishes. The Longhorns' sprinter were so dominant, Texas had clinched the team title before the final event, the 4x400-meter relay. That race was one Texas would have been favored in but the Longhorns didn’t run after being disqualified in Thursday’s prelims because of a bad exchange.Texas finished with 83 points to beat Florida and Arkansas for the title. Texas A&M was fifth with 36 points.

The Longhorns opened Saturday’s events with the win in the 4x100 relay. Alfred ran the opening leg to give Texas the lead. Kevona Davis anchored the win in 41.60 seconds ahead of Kentucky . Less than an hour later, Alfred was back for the 100 meters. She ran a season-best 10.72 seconds to beat Oklahoma’s Kennedy Blackmon and Tennessee’s Jacious Sears .
