Texas Gov. Greg Abbott sent another group of asylum seekers to Philadelphia Friday, arguing that the move highlighted President Joe Biden’s inability to manage immigration.

Of the latest convoy, he said it was “downright irresponsible and callous to do this unannounced and without coordination, showing blatant disregard for the sanctity of human lives,” according to NBC.

The migrants will be taken to shelters and given food before moving on to their final destinations, according to local officials. Erika Nunez, executive director of the Juntos community organization, said Philadelphia and other cities can accommodate the migrants. “I think part of it is he is expecting cities to fail, and I think there’s like the myth of scarcity,” she told NBC of Abbott’s campaign. “That we don’t have enough resources to go around to welcome immigrant communities — and that’s actually just not true.”Some government officials have raised concerns over largely unchecked immigration into the US, noting that dozens of entrants have been detained after popping up on terror watch lists.
