Bishop’s performance was significant because Texas played without senior forward Timmy Allen for the second consecutive game. Allen is sidelined with a right lower leg injury, according to the team. He was still an animated presence on the bench throughout the game. Texas split with Kansas, losing 88-80 at Allen Fieldhouse and then downing the Jayhawks 75-59 in the regular-season finale in Austin. But by then, Kansas had already clinched the Big 12 regular season.
The Longhorns led 34-26 at halftime behind 12 points by Disu on 6-of-7 shooting. Texas had just one 3-pointer in the first 20 minutes but had 28 points in the paint and outrebounded TCU by nine. Texas had rallied from an 18-point deficit to down TCU 79-75 in Austin. The Horned Frogs topped Texas 75-73 in the final week of the regular season,Jalen Wilson had 25 points and 10 rebounds, Gradey Dick made a couple of crucial baskets during a second-half run that gave Kansas control, and the third-ranked Jayhawks went on to beat Iowa State to reach the Big 12 Tournament title game.
