The vintage trailer, rightfully named the 'Lost Inn Austin,' is decked out with retro gadgets and is a perfect photo op.
PUBLISHED 9:00 AM CST Feb. 25, 2023AUSTIN, Texas — When Todd Sanders puts his artistic skills to work, he steps back in time. He owns Austin-based"It looks like an antique and it looks like a sign. But it's not an antique and it's not a sign. It's art," said Sanders.
He also considers his 1957 trailer, in the back of his shop, an art piece. Sanders and his wife, Sarah Thompson, completely remodeled the inside to look like a mid-century living space. It includes 1960's-style decor from the sofa and chairs to the vintage radio in the bedroom. Sanders lived in the trailer years ago when it was in dire need of repairs. That's when he met his wife.
"I opened the door. She took two steps up the stairs and she looked in and she goes, 'Is this safe?'" said Sanders."It celebrates the era of the art that we make. We make pieces that look like they're from the 1950's. And so this trailer matches that," said Sanders. They stayed in the trailer during the recent ice storm when the power went out at their home. Sanders says the trailer is also a great place for family and friends to stay when they visit.
