Texans final roster cuts: DL Demone Harris is waived

The Texans are waiving center Jimmy Morrissey with the intention of bringing him back on the practice squad, a person with knowledge of the transaction said Tuesday.The franchise has cut veteran safety Terrence Brooks, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The Texans addressed their needs in the secondary by drafting Jalen Pitre in the second round out of Baylor, and the No. 37 overall pick quickly claimed a starting job next to veteran Jonathan Owens during training camp. There are five safeties remaining under contract in Houston, and the team will likely only keep four.
Eric Murray is a versatile veteran who restructured his contract within a two-year extension in the offseason, and Grayland Arnold has impressed during the preseason at nickel safety while Tavierre Thomas has been out indefinitely with a quad injury. M.J. Stewart, who signed a one-year, $2.19 million contract in the offseason, recorded four tackles and a forced fumble in the preseason.
