The Texans have completed a second interview with 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans for their head coaching position, a person with knowledge of the information said. Ryans, a former Texans linebacker and team captain, is the third candidate to complete a second interview with the Texans. Ryans, who interviewed with the Broncos on Jan. 20, is maintaining his interest with the Texans after a week of silence. NFL teams were unable to speak with head coaching candidates whose teams were competing in the AFC and NFL title games, and the Texans were freed starting Monday to meet again with Ryans or Eagles coordinators Jonathan Gannon or Shane Steichen.
Gannon, who interviewed with the Texans twice during last year’s cycle, told Fox 29 in Philadelphia on Sunday that he is staying with the Eagles.
