The program is billed as an “intimate documentary on the legendary skipper” and is part of the new MLB Network Presents series which features similar looks at managers such as Buck Showalter, Jim Leyland, Dusty Baker and Bruce Bochy.

In the doc, Francona talks openly about managing NBA legend Michael Jordan in the minor leagues, his first managing experiences in Philadelphia, guiding Boston to its first World Series title in 86 years and subsequent departure, and the jubilation and heartbreak of taking Cleveland to the 2016 World Series.

The three-time Manager of the Year award winner also talks candidly about his health struggles and how much longer he wants to manage. Baseball personalities including executives such as Epstein and Antonetti tell stories about Francona as well as ex-Boston and Cleveland players as well as current managers Kevin Cash of Tampa Bay and Dave Roberts of the Dodgers.

“When you think about Tito, you think about just being in a clubhouse,” Epstein said. “The bonds that are created, the brotherhood, the friendships and the beauty of it for him is the way he’s developed countless unbelievable connections and friendships with people in the game.”
