Tennis star Sabalenka breaks silence after death of former boyfriend: 'An unthinkable tragedy'
Women's tennis star Aryna Sabalenka will play the Miami Open despite the death of her former boyfriend, former NHL ice hockey player Konstantin Koltsov.Sabalenka says they were no longer together but adds it was an"unthinkable tragedy".
"Konstantin's death is an unthinkable tragedy, and while we were no longer together, my heart is broken. Please respect my privacy and his family's privacy during this difficult time," Sabalenka said in a statement released by her agent.He had been in a relationship with Sabalenka for over three years according to media reports.
Koltsov's playing career included a stint with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the NHL, where he made 144 appearances between 2003 and 2006.
