A Tennessee man is facing at least 14 charges after he crashed a vehicle and flung fentanyl powder in the face of officers during his arrest, authorities said.
Rodney Bates, 31, was taken into custody Friday night by authorities with the Chattanooga Housing Authority after a pair of officers attempted to top his black Jeep Cherokee for a window tint violation, according to a report citing an affidavit obtained Monday.Bates spoke to the officers briefly before slamming on the gas and attempting to flee, the report noted.
Inside his vehicle were"multiple baggies of blue fentanyl pills and white powder believed to also be fentanyl," according to the affidavit."Rodney was then observed throwing money to females nearby and possible narcotics removed from his crotch region," according to an officer. Bates"had climbed over my 3 rows of back seats and gotten to the evidence in the trunk of my patrol vehicle which was still in the backpack that was recovered from the stolen Jeep," the officer said, according to the affidavit.
