The Franklin, Tennessee Police Department are investigating the death of singer and former 'American Idol' contestant Mandisa, who died at 47.

The singer, who competed on the fifth season ofin 2005 before launching a successful music career, was found dead at her home last week. She was 47 years old.
“The Franklin Police Department is continuing to investigate the death of a woman found inside a Beamon Dr. residence last Thursday evening. Over the weekend, a medical examiner identified the deceased individual as Mandisa Hundley, 47,” the department“At this time, there is no indication the death was the result of suspicious or criminal activity. The Franklin Police Department sends its condolences to Hundley’s family, friends, and fans.
Following news of Mandisa’s death, the artist’s family shared a statement on social media. “We can confirm that yesterday Mandisa was found in her home deceased. At this time we do not know the cause of death or any further details. We ask for your prayers for her family and close knit circle of friends during this incredibly difficult time. Mandisa was a voice of encouragement and truth to people facing life’s challenges all around the world.
Beneath the post, peers and fans alike shared tributes to Mandisa, who released her debut album True Beauty in 2007 and almost instantly became a star in the contemporary Christian music world. “Another beautiful soul and voice silenced too soon,” the gospel singer Kelly Price wrote. Melinda Watts added: “Unreal.. this hurts so deeply… I’ll miss you and I’ll always love you! You blazed a trail that so many of us only could dream of.. you were an AMAZING person on and off stage.
