'Set the oven to 300 degrees, open the oven, stand in front of it ... and that might be what it's going to feel like out there.'
"Set the oven to 300 degrees, open the oven, stand in front of it ... and that might be what it's going to feel like out there," said Mark Deutschendorf, a meteorologist with the weather service office in Reno.a heat advisory for northwestern Nevada from Friday through Sunday, advising people to seek out shade, stay hydrated, wear a hat, be less active in the middle of the day and apply sunscreen.
Sunday and Monday will mark the peak of the heat, though temperatures Friday and Saturday will probably only be one or two degree warmer than they are on Sunday and Monday, Deutschendorf said. Winds are likely to pick up on Friday and Saturday, and these could bring relief but also kick up dust.
