BREAKING - police have released a statement
Police investigating a devastating hotel fire in Blackpool earlier this week have arrested two teenagers.
There were 12 fire engines sent to the scene, with two aerial ladder platforms to douse the flames from above, a stringer and a drone unit. According to police, the blaze caused 'irreparable damage' to the former hotel.Tonight , Lancashire Constabulary confirmed officers have arrested an 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy in Blackpool on suspicion of criminal damage – arson endangering life. They are currently in custody.
Detectives are still appealing for witnesses, asking anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area near to the hotel on Monday, to contact the police. Officers are also asking people to check their CCTV from the area and dashcam footage which could assist in our enquiries. He said: "I saw all of the smoke, all of the commotion, it was really really bad. Since then, Empress Drive has been used as a way through for all of the cars, so it's been really really noisy."
