A teenage thug who spat towards a ticket conductor has been jailed for 13 months.
James Brown, 18, initially hurled abuse at Samantha Eldridge aboard a train in Glasgow's Carntyne on May 31, 2021.He then went on to damage a bike before leaving the train.He also admitted spitting at Miss Eldridge.Sheriff Paul Reid ordered him to do 160 hours of unpaid work and put under supervision for two years.
The court heard that Miss Eldridge approached a group of youths when Brown stated"what you wanting?" before calling her a"tramp".He was then reported by other passengers as he was stamping on someone's bike, causing it damage. Brown was noted to have been under the influence of alcohol and was told to leave at Carntyne station."She was shocked but did not react and went to the toilet to clean up before resuming her duties."Miss Donnelly said:"He was aware of an unattended mobile phone and he picked it up.
"Cameron approached him shouting 'you have got my f***ing phone' and punched [him] on the face repeatedly." The male victim attempted to fight back but he ended up on the floor with Cameron striking more blows to his face.Fortunately, he did not require further medical treatment.Cameron told officers:"I thought he was stealing my phone, that's why I attacked him."
