The teen was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, police got two calls about shooting incidents around the same time Tuesday, just before 11 p.m.The teen was found on University Boulevard, north of Arlington Expressway, but the shooting took place over 3 miles away on Crane Avenue in the Glynlea/Grove Park area.
Witnesses told JSO investigators that a light-colored car pulled into the parking lot of a business on Crane Avenue and someone got out of the car and started shooting at the teenager then left the scene, headed west on Crane Avenue. Detectives are still talking to witnesses and the victim to determine a motive, but investigators said they believe this to be an isolated incident.
It’s unclear how the teen got from the shooting scene to where he was found on University Boulevard. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
