An 18-year-old male from Cincinnati was arrested after the chase in southwest Ohio, reports say.
MONROE, Ohio — An 18-year-old male clocked going 113 mph led State Highway Patrol troopers on a chase covering nearly 50 miles, finally ending when he ditched the vehicle and attempted to run from troopers, reports say.that a trooper spotted the 2016 Jeep Renegade, which was reported stolen last month, speeding on Interstate 75 south near Ohio 63 in Monroe just after midnight Tuesday. The speed limit is 65 mph on that part of the interstate..
The Jeep eventually left the highway in Hamilton County and the driver, identified as Edward Mumphrey Jr., stopped and attempted to run on foot. Troopers quickly caught him and arrested him, reports say. Mumphrey is charged with failure to comply with police, obstructing official business and four counts of receiving stolen property. WCPO reports he is being held on a $100,000 bond.
