A 19-year-old man who was brutally beaten and stripped on camera was ambushed by a group of males after arranging to meet a girl, the Manchester Evening News understands.
It is understood one line of enquiry being considered by the police is that the teenager may have been the victim of a 'set up'. Officers fear there may be more 'vigilante mob' episodes following the attack and the other incidents that followed, and have stepped up patrols in the area. Monira added: "He's very frightened, he doesn't look eye to eye with people. He doesn't want to be around other males.
Marcus Miah, a local community leader, asked people to stop sharing the video on social media. "It's too gruesome, it's not something kids should be watching, but also we should stop sharing it because of the victim's dignity and his family," he told the M.E.N ."One really positive thing to come out of this is that so many people care. Everyone has come together to voice their concern in unity. This is not going to be washed away or disappear.
"This is a lesson for us as parents to ask ourselves if we're doing enough. Where are we going wrong and what can we do to improve?" "My understanding of all this is when the video became available, that's when everybody became aware of what was happening.
