The opening of the station will improve transport connectivity for Punggol residents and make it easier for those commuting to the new Singapore Institute of Technology campus, the Land Transport Authority said in a news release on Wednesday . Punggol Digital DistrictSIT will move to the Punggol campus in phases from the second half of 2024, a SIT spokesperson told CNA previously. The school's academic year begins in September.
This will double the number of two-car trains in the fleet, increasing passenger capacity and ensuring that the line can meet long-term public transport demand. The opening of Teck Lee Station and improvements to the Sengkang-Punggol LRT complement bus service 84G/W in enhancing connectivity to the northern part of Punggol, said LTA.
