A technical working group under the Department of Health and the Department of Trade and Industry is looking into new price cap for COVID-19 tests which may be issued in the coming weeks, a health official says

“We have enough supplies of testing kits in government and we continuously provide our laboratories with these testing kits,” said Vergeire., the government set the price range for RT-PCR tests at ₱2,800 for plate-based and ₱2,450 for cartridge-based GeneXpert in public laboratories; ₱3,360 for plate-based and ₱2,940 for GeneXpert in private laboratories, and an additional ₱1,000 for plate-based and GeneXpert for home services.
However, many netizens have raised concern over such testing price range, complaining it is too expensive for the general public.
