The East Pennsboro School District said the incident is a reminder for students and teachers to stay vigilant.

Teachers at a Camp Hill elementary school protected a student who was approached by a stranger Thursday, district officials said.

The West Creek Hills Elementary School student was approached by a man in a van while she was walking outside school on the 400 block of Erford Road, according to an email the East Pennsboro School District sent to parents Friday morning. Elementary school teachers picked up on what was going on and made sure the student was safe, Superintendent Donna Dunar said in the email.

“Thank you to our West Creek Hills staff for being vigilant and always keeping our students safe,” she said. “Please talk to your students about being safe and being aware and cautious of their surroundings.” East Pennsboro Township police are looking for the white construction van pictured above in connection to this incident. Police are also looking for surveillance footage and ask anyone who has some to call Det. Cohick or Det. Sgt. Shope at 732-3633.
