in a social media statement: “Being falsely painted as a liar when I was never given the full story or played any part of the song is a character assassination.”, which are currently making the rounds on Twitter, seem to reinforce Taylor’s assertion that she wasn’t given the entire picture and shows the singer's hesitation about the entire song. At the beginning of the video, Kanye can be heard asking Taylor to help promote the track, while preparing her for a “controversial” lyric.
Throughout the remainder of the call, leading up to the clip that Kim originally put on Snapchat, we can hear Taylor expressing her uncertainty, saying at one point: "If I launch it, it adds to this level of criticism. Having this many followers and having this many eyeballs on me right now, people are just looking for me to do something dumb or stupid or lame. I feel like people would try to make it negative if it came from me.
It's worth noting that nowhere in the full call do we hear Kanye telling Taylor the next line in the song, "I made that b*tch famous."
