Tasha Yar’s murderer has officially returned to Star Trek continuity. In the new miniseries Star Trek: Holo-Ween, Captain Picard and the crew of the Enterprise are facing off against the evil Redjac. A non-corporeal entity that feeds on fear, Redjac is toying with the Enterprise’s crew, and as seen in issue three, he has a new ally in the creature that killed Tash Yar.

Star Trek: Holo-Ween #3 is written by Christopher Sequeira and drawn by Joe Eisma. Redjac has taken control of most of the Enterprise’s major systems, such as the Holodeck. Captain Montgomery Scott, who encountered Redjac almost a century ago, comes aboard the ship to help. Scott, La Forge and Doctor Crusher discover Redjac is now communicating outside the ship, setting up a relay system in the Vagra system.

Tasha Yar Was Killed in Cold Blood Tasha Yar was the original security chief aboard the Enterprise. The survivor of a failed colony, Tasha had a hard-edge that masked a sensitive interior. Unfortunately, her tenure aboard the Enterprise was short-lived. In the first season episode “Skin of Evil,” an away team, including Tasha, met the entity known as Armus. Resembling a giant, oil-covered humanoid, Armus was immensely powerful.

Redjac and Armus Are a Match Made in Hell Redjac feeds on the fear it helps create, and if he truly wanted to scare the crew of the Enterprise, then there is no one better suited for the task than Armus. When the crew first encountered Armus, their phaser fire was ineffective on him. Armus’ origins were never explored in the episode, but he was a creature of pure evil and rage. He killed Tasha Yar and nearly took out the rest of the away team as well.
