Justin Edward Groshok, 39, was charged after the Canada Border Services Agency raided a home in Burnaby and found a loaded restricted handgun, 17 prohibited weapons, 12 Taser cartridges and 248 grams of methamphetamine.

A postal shipment containing a “taser-style prohibited weapon” sparked a Canada Border Services Agency investigation that has ended in a four-year prison sentence for a 39-year-old Burnaby man.

CBSA intercepted the prohibited weapon at its Toronto international mail processing centre in April 2020, according to a news release Monday. After a months long investigation, CBSA raided the address in July 2021 and seized a loaded restricted handgun, 17 prohibited weapons, 12 Taser cartridges and 248 grams of methamphetamine, according to the release.

Justin Edward Groshok of Burnaby was arrested and charged with six weapons offences and possession for the purpose of trafficking. He pleaded guilty in June to two of the charges: possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition and possession for the purpose of trafficking.“By preventing and investigating smuggling attempts, we’re reducing the risk of harm to Canadians,” CBSA regional director general Nina Patel in the release.
