But the biggest problem was that our players simply never turned up. Look across the squad and you struggle to find anyone who did well across the three games. Grant Hanley might be as close as we got. A centre half that never even started the first game. We are so much better than we showed and that’s a massive frustration because the punters were absolutely magnificent. I loved every minute in the fan zones and mingling with them in bars.
We could spend days, weeks and months pouring over our Euros no-show. But we need to move on and fast. I’m not saying wholesale change but there needs to be gradual progression. There’s some players in there at the wrong side of 30 who have been great servants but might now have reached the end of their international journey.
Meanwhile, back at Hibs... number one is always a good place to start and it looks like Hibs have solved a big summer priority by signing former Stoke keeper Josef Bursik on loan from Club Brugge. The clock is ticking and that - along with the capture of Warren O'Hora - is hopefully the sign of things to come. And quickly.
