*** LOCAL IMPACTS FROM THE TROPICS: None. We will see increasing seas & surf again by Thu./Fri. into the weekend due to strong onshore flow.** Tropical depression #17 formed over the Eastern Atlantic Sat. morning & was upgraded to tropical storm “Philippe” late in the afternoon... ** A trough of low pressure will develop off the east coast of Fl. by late week enhancing onshore flow but any significant surface low development appears unlikely at this time. We’ll watch a similar set-up late in the following week.
Some global models - including the GFS & European - do show at least the “shadow” of Philippe persisting into next week while turning more northward over the SW Atlantic... & even go so far as to re-generate a tropical cyclone near the Bahamas later next week. That’s not an impossible scenario & is something worth monitoring in the longer range.has come off the coast of Africa over the weekend & has the potential to develop into a tropical cyclone - “Rina” over the next few days.
