The presidency says talk of sanctions against South Africa is alarmist and undermines the country’s sovereignty and stability of its economy.

The country has been criticised by some for its non-aligned stance. He distanced the Presidency from reports that the Brics summit scheduled for South Africa in August may be moved to China. The Sunday Times quoted sources who claimed there were discussions to move the summit to China or Mozambique.
