Now,military has rolled out plans to allow women to volunteer as army reserves, as Beijing continues to ramp up military pressure on the democratic, self-ruled island.

If Beijing chose to invade these islands, it would be hard for Taiwan to stop it. Chinese attackers would only have to travel ten miles to reach their target. Taiwan’s main island, however, is 100 miles further east.
