The couple, who also hold Australian passports, were last seen alighting from a bus on the Shakadang Trail in Hualien’s Taroko Gorge at around 7.20am on April 3, CCTV footage from the vehicle has shown.
On the morning of April 8, the fire department estimated the couple to be within 1.5km of the Shakadang Trail, where most of the rescue efforts have been focused. But the search area was later expanded after a fruitless search at a rest stop known as Wu Jian Wu .
