Leap co-owner Paul Chateau says the permanent lighting is a superior alternative to soffit lights and traditional strings of holiday lights.Article content “We used to do pot lights, but they were hard to line up properly and run wire out. With this track system, the wires are hidden. Each bulb is programmable using an app and there are thousands of settings for every occasion. Whether you want to support Ukraine or Pride Day or just have regular Christmas lights. You can light up your home just like your own personal Calgary Tower,” he says.
Chateau says the clips used to fix strings of lights around roof edges and window were a “nightmare” to work with and no matter what type of clips used, they would become brittle and break. Permanent lights are affixed to the home’s exterior and don’t have to be taken down. The cost is similar to two and a half years’ worth of installation and take down expenses of traditional lights if the job was hired out to a contractor.
“Permanent holiday lights start at about $1,500 for the front of a bungalow. More elaborate systems on two-storey homes can be $6,000 to $7,000. The average house is around $2,800 dollars, plus GST,” he says., Feb. 23 to 26 at BMO Centre, Stampede Park.
