BART riders can thank the frosty weather for their extra-long commute today.
Thursday’s frosty weather across the Bay Area is not just impacting the feeling in your bones — it’s also hampering commuters.
BART is running its trains at slower speeds due to the icy temperatures blanketing the region, according to an announcement by the transit agency just before 6 a.m. Officials advised riders to add 20 minutes to their planned travel time to account for the delays. The Examiner reached out to BART for an update on the delays and has not received a reply. Riders can check the rail line’s trip planner on its app or visit its website for up-to-the-minute departure and arrival times. On the bright side, the slower trains will give riders an extra long time to look outside the windows at the region's newly snow capped mountain tops, including Mission Peak in Fremont.
