Hassan Al Kontar — a young Syrian refugee who was trapped in arrivals at Kuala Lumpur International Airport for seven months in stateless limbo, and

“It’s more than ,” he says. “It doesn’t come once a year. It’s permanent for me now. It’s a celebration of life.” Al Kontar has not seen his family since the day the war broke out, although they now video chat constantly.
