Sophie Swanson scored a career-high 40 points Tuesday night to lead Barrington to a 62-47 girls basketball win over Fremd.
With the Barrington student section shouting"MVP, MVP," the Fillies' junior scooped home a left-handed shot with 1:15 left to give her 40 points and seal the deal in Barrington's 62-47 triumph over visiting Fremd on Tuesday night.
"It's even more awesome because it was such a big game," Swanson said."I wasn't even aware of how many points I had. My only goal was just to get a team win at the end and we did. I could not have done this without my teammates." Barrington got to within 10-6 after one quarter, thanks to a rebound layup by Mahlum and 2 baskets by Swanson, including a 17-footer from near the arc with 12 seconds left.
Swanson's 3-pointer to start the second half gave the Fillies their biggest lead in the third quarter at 30-18.
