SWAT teams have concluded an extensive search with no arrests after working to take two suspects into custody.
The investigation began at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday when police saw a stolen motorcycle abandoned at the Main Street Motel. A male suspect was seen on surveillance camera going into a room there.
"During the investigation, officers learned the man had access to a knife and that there was a second person inside the motel room," a press release stated.Officials said the suspects — whose identities are known to detectives — both refused to exit.At approximately 6:45 p.m., police used a breaching device to enter the room. However, upon entering, they reported finding a hole that had been cut in the ceiling which led to the attic.
"Officers believe the suspects likely escaped the motel room somehow," a press release stated. "SWAT officers meticulously searched the attic and crawl spaces of the motel but did not locate either suspect."Main Street was closed from Kensington Avenue to Bryan Avenue until early Wednesday morning while they investigated.
Officials said there is no known threat to the community following the conclusion of their search. The investigation remains ongoing.
