It is reported that he was arrested on Saturday when members of the Mahikeng Flying Squad, en-route to work, spotted a security vehicle near the Eskom electricity substation at Unit 15. Upon investigation, officers were informed that the suspect had fled after being found in the substation’s control room.
According to police spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone, the suspect was later arrested after being discovered hiding in a trench. “Pieces of cables as well as a bolt cutter, screw driver and cutting knife that were apparently used by the suspect, were found inside the control room. The suspect is expected to appear in the Molopo Magistrate’s Court in Mmabatho on Monday, 16 September 2024, for tampering with and/or destruction of essential infrastructure.
