LGE2021 | Survey shows nearly half of South Africans unhappy with who they voted for in 2016
Getty ImagesAlmost half of South Africans who are registered to vote in the 2021 local government elections say they are very or somewhat dissatisfied with the party they voted for in the 2016 local government election.
One of the many disappointed residents in this age group was Roodepoort resident Dalubuhle Hlatshwayo who told City Press that, while she regrets simply voting for the ANC during her first voting experience in 2016, she is still torn about which political party to give her vote to on November 1. Earlier this month City Press spoke to 64-year-old Hillbrow resident, Nelly Motswagole, who first voted 27 years ago and said she would continue to cast her ballot for as long as she is able.
An alarming 55% of those surveyed said they had no trust in police in the country, while a mere 13% said they had trust in the country’s law enforcement.Last week, enraged Diepkloof residents told City Press that voting in their community would not go ahead as planned on Monday.
