A 35-year-old Surrey man faces numerous property and firearms offences after Surrey RCMP seized a handgun from a stolen vehicle Wednesday.
Surrey RCMP’s auto-crime target team located a white Jeep Cherokee that was reported stolen out of Vancouver on Monday. The driver was arrested with the help of the Surrey RCMP’s gang-enforcement team. Police seized a loaded 9mm handgun and ammunition, along with a quantity of suspected illicit drugs, credit cards and other items believed to be stolen.
Robert Leo Jones, who police called a prolific offender, faces a laundry list of charges including possession of property obtained by crime; carrying a concealed weapon; unauthorized possession of a firearm; unauthorized use of credit-card data; driving while prohibited; and breaches of several court orders.
