SuperSport United have confirmed they are in talks to keep striker Thamsanqa Gabuza, with interest believed to be coming from KZN for the former Orlando Pirates player.

Gabuza's deal with Matsatsantsa is meant to expire at the end of this month, but the Tshwane outfit is determined to hold onto the player, with talks currently underway for a new deal. It's believed there is interest in the 34-year-old from Royal AM and AmaZulu. The striker finished the past season with seven goals in 30 appearances, proving to be one of the side's more important players.

There were times Gabuza was given the captain's armband. While nothing is confirmed at the moment, SuperSport CEO has made it clear that they want Gabuza to be part of the team next season. An announcement will be made once terms of the contract have been agreed. "Gabuza is very much part of our plans for next season. We are doing a new deal," Matthews told the Siya crew.

As previously reported by the Siya crew, SuperSport are looking to exercise the option in Aubrey Ngoma's contract. Ngoma joined Matsatsantsa on a short-term deal in January and it looks as though he has done enough to get a deal for at least another season.
