Staff will be offered roles in sites nearby
One of the high street's big-name beauty and healthcare retailers has confirmed it will close some of its stores soon. Superdrug will be closing three locations, although thankfully none of these are within Nottinghamshire.
As reported by The Mirror, the chain will soon shut its Bromsgrove shop in Worcestershire on November 8, followed by Llanelli in Wales in early December and Newbury, Berkshire. It is uncertain how many staff will be affected by the closures, but the retailer said all staff working at the affected stores will be offered roles in sites nearby.
A handful of other Superdrug sites have shut over the first half of the year, including its Kirkcaldy site in February, Portswood in January, and its Basildon stores on August 26. However, Nottinghamshire shoppers should seemingly not be too fearful as in April the retailer announced that it planned to open 25 "bigger and better" new stores throughout the year creating 570 jobs.
The retailer currently has nearly 800 stores across the UK. A spokesperson for Superdrug told the Mirror: "Our store estate continues to perform well, and we plan to invest in 25 new stores throughout 2023. Store closures remain minimal and are a result of the overall optimisation of our store estate. Wherever possible employees will be redeployed to nearby stores."
