Steven McGhee, who runs Keelo Jewellers from the Gatehouse – a former public toilet building– in Wishaw’s Kenilworth Road, said: “We’re not cyclists at all, apart from Paul. The rest of us are just doing it for a bit of fun and to keep fit. The group are leaving from Airdrieonians FC’s Excelsior Stadium on June 4 and plan to be in Munich before Scotland play there 10 days later.

“Hopefully, by the time we get there we will have a few more tickets in hand, but even if we don’t we’re going to enjoy the experience. “I’m only there for the one match and coming back home in the van, I’m hoping to be back home for June 16. My 11-year-old daughter Alannah, is a boxing champion as well, and I need to be back to catch her fight.
