A highly-regarded attacker that Mamelodi Sundowns tabled a multi-million offer for in recent months has decided to pursue a lucrative transfer to Saudi Arabia in a R42 million move.
Ismael Diaz has opted for the Saudi Pro League despite having had an offer from Mamelodi Sundowns earlier this year.
Diaz was amongst the names identified by Sundowns for a transfer to the club in this window, but the deal couldn’t happen despite an offer in the region of R18 million being tabled.The Panamanian’s agent Edgardo Carles did confirm earlier this year that Sundowns was among the clubs that had put an offer after he scored 18 goals in the year 2022.
Nicknamed ‘The Prince’ back home in Panama – Diaz also had an option of going to CSKA Moscow in Russia. Diaz arrived in Saudi Arabia on Monday and besides Ronaldo, Benzema, and Neymar will find N’golo Kante, Riyad Mahrez, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Jordan Henderson, and Fabinho amongst others.
