Thembinkosi Lorch was embroiled in what was deemed as over celebrations by many after Mamelodi Sundowns were crowned PSL champions
That loss was only their first loss of the whole PSL season, and it prevented them from going invincible. Had they managed to avoid defeat against the Capetonians, they would’ve become the first side in South African football to achieve such a feat. In the end though, they had to settle for the league record points, which is now 73.
In a title victory that was never in doubt, it was made much tougher by all the other tournaments they played in. Those tournaments are the reason why Sundowns went on another recruitment drive in the January transfer window. One of those players that was signed at the start of the year is Bafana Bafana internationalfinal looming. Now ahead of that big occasion against his former side, the player was caught on camera celebrating a little too much.
Mokwena also said the two would have a stern talk to ensure Lorch knows what’s expected of a Sundowns player. “As I said, it’s individual it’s a one-on-one and it’s one that has to take place with respect, but also with also a clear understanding of what is allowed and tolerated at Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club and what is not.” Mokwena said.
