Mngqithi is grateful that his team will play both legs of their CAF Champions League matches at home
Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi is grateful that his team will play both legs of the CAF Champions League second preliminary round at home. The Brazilians will play their scheduled away leg match against Mbabane Swallows of Eswatini in the familiar territory of the Lucas Moripe stadium in Atteridgeville on Saturday evening. The second leg will be played at Loftus Versfeld the following weekend.
“I think that’s a big significance if you consider that we are only seeing Bafana players today and if we were supposed to be travelling tomorrow it could have been more difficult for us but the fact that the game is played locally gives us a chance and have them for match day minus one training without issues.”
“We are playing against the champions of Swaziland who have three elements that are dangerous. They are very good on set pieces, they are very strong on transition, and you are playing against a very quick team which is a normal case when we are playing against these SADC teams.” “Champions league is the biggest tournament on the continent not a lot of people might watch the league, but champs league is all over the world and it gives exposure to the players and when players play in the group stages or semifinals there might be someone watching and I believe Ronwen’s nomination is because he was playing in the big tournaments.”
