Sundowns Don't Want To Make Same Mistake As Bafana
JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA - SEPTEMBER 20: Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena during the DStv Premiership match between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns at Orlando Stadium on September 20, 2023 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Sundowns have been drawn in Group A alongside Pyramids of Egypt, TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the lesser known FC Nouadhibou of Mauritania in the CAF Champions League group phase.Mokwena has cautioned against undermining Nouadhibou, especially having to travel to Mauritania, as he recounted how their national team made things difficult for Bafana after beating them 3-1 at home and drawing 1-1 in Mbombela in the return fixture.
"Good draw, competitive, very difficult, some difficult teams, Mazembe tough, we go to Congo, we go to Mauritania, we go to Egypt, Pyramids also tough," Mokwena said at the Carling Knockout Cup launch.
