Defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil should have been shown a red card during Mamelodi Sundowns' clash against Richards Bay, according to retired referee Victor Hlungwani.
The Brazilians have continued their perfect start to the season with a 1-0 win over Richards Bay in their last outing on Wednesday, the defending champions were fortunate not to be reduced to ten men when centre-back Abdelmounaim Boutouil was shown a yellow card for a challenge on Bay's Sakhile Hlongwa. This was according to retired referee Hlungwani.
"Boutouil was supposed to be sent off for serious foul play and the man is crying, if you turned up the speaker you'd hear that man screaming," Hlungwane said on"Look what they did to him, that is serious foul play, he is targeting the ankle, so this man got a yellow card, This is an incorrect decision by the referee. We hope the referee sees this and realises that [It was wrong]. Both of them missed it but this is incorrect we are not happy about this.
