The event is expected to bring about 3,000 participants, volunteers and spectators to the area.
The Hamsterley Beach parking lot at Elk Lake will be closed Sunday for the Ironman 70.3 Victoria triathlon.
The event, the North American TriClub Championship-West, runs from sunrise to sunset, said a notice from the Capital Regional District. It is expected to bring about 3,000 participants, volunteers and spectators to the area. Hamsterley Beach, located off Brookleigh Road, will be used as the staging area for race’s start, transitions and finish.
The field near Elk/Beaver Lake Regional Park’s Elk Lake Drive entrance will also be closed for overflow parking, while the trail around the lake will be used for the run portion of the event, and delays there should be expected. Members of the public might want to consider using a different park while the triathlon is underway, the CRD said.
