Asked if delays could be worse this summer than in 2022, the union source said: “It possibly could be. Obviously, our aim is to create something that the Government would wish not to happen. This isn’t something that they had to contend with last year, with large portions of the workforce stopping doing their job for five weeks, so potentially.”
The Home Office said that over 99 per cent of standard applications have been processed within 10 weeks since the start of the year. However, the Passport Office source suggested that delays could “ramp up” beyond 10 weeks, which would already be in June.
