St. Augustine 'growing a program' under coach Ron Gladnick, and 7-on-7 tourney win a step in the right direction; more highlights as teams prepare to start practicing July 31
Certainly winning 7-on-7 passing tournaments is important, but St. Augustine High School coach Ron Gladnick says success goes beyond winning.
“We’re building a culture here,” Gladnick said. “Building a brotherhood. We don’t use junk plays at 7-on-7 events just to win. We run what we’ll use in the season, so the players and coaches are comfortable calling those plays.” Saturday, the Saints were led by sophomore quarterback Brady Palmer, who was named the Gold Division MVP. And Glanick singled out Isaiah Hastings and speedy incoming freshman Honor Falave.
“At the start of the summer, we struggled to make big plays,” Gladnick said. “But we got better and started making big plays, key plays, plays that win games.“So we’re growing a program.”More summer football notes:
