🔴 Asylum seekers were to blame for dangerous overcrowding at a migrant processing centre in Kent, Home Secretary Suella Braverman has claimed
At the Commons Home Affairs Committee on Wednesday, Ms Braverman repeatedly refused to say what legal advice she received and when, insisting she “was aware” from early September that “there was a problem at Manston”.– the department’s most senior official – confirmed legal advice to both Ms Braverman and Mr Shapps had been “consistent” and “flowing freely”.
“I tell you who’s at fault, it’s very clear who’s at fault, it’s the people who are breaking our rules, coming here illegally, exploiting vulnerable people and trying to reduce the generosity of the British people – that’s who’s at fault,” she said. Meanwhile, Mr Rycroft said he could still not say the Government’s Rwanda deportation plan was value for money, despite Britain paying the east African nation £140m to enact the policy, which is stalled in the courts.
Workers who stay in the job for a year are given £1,500 on top of their wages, while those who stay two years are given £2,500. Ms Braverman responded: “If you put in an application for asylum on arrival that would be the process that you enter.”
