The Cape Breton Dorados club had another successful winter swimming season, taking home medals at the Nova Scotia ‘AA’ Winter Swimming Championship in Wolfville. Several swimmers also took part in an invitational meet in Maine and the David Fry ‘AAA’ Championship in Halifax last month. Some of the swimmers are pictured, front row, from left, Keagan Hillier, Liam Sakalauskas, Brenna Hussey, Brogan Hussey and Thomas Guy.
Thomas Guy took home gold medals in the 13-14-year-old boys’ 200-metre backstroke and 100-metre backstroke, while Logan Daye claimed the gold medal in the 13-14-year-old boys’ 400-metre individual medley. Daye also won a bronze medal in the 50-metre freestyle event. Meanwhile, Brogan Hussey also had a strong showing in the water. He captured a pair of bronze medals in the 12-and-under boys’ 200-metre individual medley and the 100-metre backstroke.
Hunter, Brenna Hussey and Keagan Hillier qualified for an invitational meet in Maine last month. Maggie MacDonald and Allison Giorno also joined them at the competition as part of the Nova Scotia representation.
