The Nigeria Police High command has ordered state commissioners of police across the federation to conclude investigations into alleged cases of
violations of the Electoral Act 2022 during the February 25 presidential and National Assembly polls.
The police authority also directed that all case files be forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission for immediate prosecution. Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi who disclosed this in a press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja said the directives were issued by the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba.
He disclosed further that the IGP has ordered the police managers to engage stakeholders in their various commands in a town hall meeting over the gubernatorial and state houses of assembly polls scheduled for March 18 to ensure free, fair and credible polls. The police authority also urged well-meaning Nigerians, the electorate, accredited observers and INEC officials to partner with security agencies to ensure that all materials are safeguarded and elections are conducted in a hitch-free environment that allows all and sundry to vote without threat or molestation.
