The recall covers 2019 through 2022 models of the Subaru Ascent after the company received reports of two car fires.A bolt that secures the ground terminal of a heater may not have been tightened properly while the vehicles were being assembled,The loose bolt can cause the terminal and its surrounding parts to melt, increasing the chance of a fire.
Subaru says the affected vehicles should be parked outside and away from structures. They should also not be left unattended with the engine running until a fix is made. If the vehicle operator notices or smells smoke coming from the dashboard or driver’s foot well, that person should shut off the engine immediately.
